I remember listening to this about 20 years ago in the car. I was a passenger and we were leaving a place that I had loved. I turned around in my seat to watch it disapper from the rear window and I saw a huge hot air balloon drifting in the sky....this marked the end of an era for me.

I have been a Pat Metheny fan for years. I love almost all of his work. Until I heard this piece, "Farmer's Trust" (another beautiful yet simple piece by Mays and Metheny) was my favorite. But this song has to be one of the most hauntingly beautiful compositions I've ever heard. It can evoke strong emotion.

It is an amazing, beautiful piece of music. What an amazing composer and performer...!
So lovely to see so many people moved by this and no stupid bickering on these comments. I guess this is a great example of pure instrumental music just reaching directly into peoples minds - in such a positive way.
It's hard to imagine listening to this and not feeling calm and reflective. |
